OUR STORY

 Roman and I were married in 1979 and settled on the ‘Medernach Home Place’ 5 kilometers East of Cudworth, Saskatchewan. We grain farmed and in the early 1980’s, I started to supplement the farm income by selling vegetables at the Saskatoon Farmers Market. I started my own vegetable transplants along with a few flowers in an 8 x 12 putter house.

One day, someone drove into our yard and asked to buy some of my plants - I was astounded. If this person would drive out to the farm to buy plants, maybe there was more! And so it began… 

More and more people drove out to “Gail’s” to buy bedding plants so every year, Roman added another greenhouse. Today, we have 10,000 square feet of growing space.

Gail’s Greenhouse was born.

I have no formal education in horticulture however, I do take every opportunity through the Saskatchewan Greenhouse Growers Association to increase my knowledge by taking part in their conferences and workshops. I believe that the ability I have to grow plants is my Gift from God. It’s my passion and I love to share it with all of you.

Roman does all the maintenance and repairs. He “keeps the joint going” as the saying goes. Roman mixes all the fertilizers. He believe that you have to grow roots first and then focus on the top. His experience with grain farming lends itself beautifully to bedding plants. 

Our plants are very healthy. I believe this is one reason people keep coming back. They say “Gail, your plants always grow. I just put them in the ground and they take off.” That makes me happy.

We strive for our customers to be successful.  I want you to come to Gail’s Greenhouse for your first basket in Spring and I want those same baskets to be the last ones blooming in September.

During May and June, Gail’s Greenhouse is open 7 days a week. We are here when you need us. In the off season, I can be found dreaming of next years’ flowers.
